Ben holds a PhD from UCL and is a lecturer in economics at the University of Essex. He is a research associate at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and a researcher at the Centre for Microsocial Change at Essex. He works on various aspects of economic inequality and wellbeing, with a focus on decisions made at the household level. During the covid19 crisis he has researched declines in mental wellbeing during the lockdown.
