Haiti in the age of covid: facing the pandemy and other challenges…

Fighting Covid in a country where about 1/2 of the population has no access to safe water and 3/4 lives with less than US$2 a day is both extremely demanding and asking very fundamental questions about where to channel the obviously undersized resources and how they are actually dealt with. The project is partly a “research-action” project in that we are directly working in collaboration with the institute that provides formation to the managers of the governmental statistical apparatus (CTPEA) and the “Multisectoral Commission for the management of the Covid-19 pandemic” – to help in collecting data and getting a general picture of the country during this period. Its core component consists in re-deploying an information system that make use of SMS – to be able to reach the population which is not necessarily endowed with smartphones – and setting up a decentralized “call–center”.
