
Jackie Wahba is a Professor of Economics and an applied labour economist specialising in the economics of international migration and refugees. She was awarded an OBE in 2020 for services to economic policy. From 2012 to 2021, she served as a member of the UK Migration Advisory Committee.
Professor Wahba is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, an elected member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society (2020–25), and a Council Member of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). She is also a Research Fellow at IZA, CReAM, and the Economic Research Forum (ERF), and serves on the ERF Board of Trustees and the Migration Observatory Expert Advisory Board at the University of Oxford.
She has acted as an adviser to several international organisations, including the European Commission, World Bank, UNDP, African Development Bank, and the OECD.
