JOHN MARTIN is a visiting professor of agrarian history at the Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading. His research and more than 120 publications have focused primarily on the transformation of British agriculture in the 19th and 20th centuries.
He is a member of the British Library’s advisory panel ‘Farming, Land Management and Conservation in Post- War Britain’ and he chairs the Friends of the Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, which promotes research on local history.
