Christopher Lyon is a Fellow at the Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity and a member of the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York. With degrees in human geography and rural sociology, his place-based research qualitatively explores the relationship between community members’ sense of place and culture, the views of catchment and national level agrifood stakeholders, and local emergency and climate resilience building through participatory methods. He has also led White Rose funded research with natural scientists and an artist to explore 500-year global climate change projections and their bioregional impacts. He is involved in a York Environmental Sustainability Institute funded projects looking at the ways that environment and landscape change research can merge the creative arts and participatory methods to reach and include diverse place-based stakeholders in meaningful knowledge and decision making, the confluence of heat, haze and health in cities, and the BBSRC funded BAFR-UK project on food system resilience to catastrophic shocks.
