
Benjamin Hilgenstock is the Head of Macroeconomic Research and Strategy at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) Institute and an Associate Fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). His focus are international sanctions on Russia and their impact on the Russian economy, including in the areas of energy, trade, and finance, implication from the Russian invasion of Ukraine for European security, as well as the Ukrainian economy and its post-war recovery. Previously Benjamin worked at the Institute of International Finance on macroeconomic analysis of key emerging markets, primarily in Central/Eastern Europe and including Russia, Ukraine. He also spent several years with the International Monetary Fund’s research department
