Mustapha Douch

Mustapha Douch is an Associate Professor in Economics at Edinburgh University Business School.

He has a PhD in Economics. Since completing his PhD he has worked as an Assistant Professor in Economics at Richmond The American University in London, a Research Fellow in Economics at Aston University, Assistant and Associate Professor at The University of Edinburgh. He has carried out extensive research using HMRC transaction data and Office of National Statistics databases to provide evidence on the dynamics affecting the UK firms –i.e. uncertainties, trade, productivity issues, exporting and non-tariff barriers, etc. He also does research in the intersection between Machine Learning models and economic problems. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, World Development, British Journal of Management. He has been a consultant for UNU-WIDER – United Nations University, in collaboration with South Africa’s National Treasury, to investigate the impact of uncertainties on trading firms. He held a Visiting Principal Economist position at the Bank of Lithuania and the Bank of Estonia.
