
Hill Kulu is Professor of Human Geography and Demography at the University of St Andrews. He is Co-director of the ESRC Centre for Population Change and Connecting Generations. His substantive research interests lie in the field of family, fertility, migration and health studies; his methodological interests include the development and application of longitudinal models in social science research. He is PI of the ERC-funded MigrantLife project and PI (at St Andrews) of the We-ID project. He was PI of the ESRC-funded project Understanding Recent Fertility Trends in the UK and Improving Methodologies for Fertility Forecasting. From 2018 to 2024, he was a member of the Expert Advisory Group on Population and Migration at the Scottish Government and advised the Scottish Government on the effect of Brexit on Scotland’s economy and population.
