Ann Berrington

Ann Berrington is Professor of Demography and Social Statistics and leads the research on fertility and family in the Centre for Population Change, University of Southampton. Her research interests concern fertility trends, transitions to adulthood, family complexity, and how these relate to socio-economic inequalities across the life course. She was co-I of the ESRC-funded project Understanding Recent Fertility Trends in the UK and Improving Methodologies for Fertility Forecasting publishing findings relating to trends in period and cohort fertility, the role of partnerships, economic uncertainty, climate change and neighbourhood belonging. Ann is co-I on the ESRC-funded UK Generations and Gender Survey, a member of the ONS Expert Advisory Group for National Population Projections, and UK Statistics Authority Research Accreditation Panel.
